The SRJC MA program is fortunate to have several working partnerships with local health care organizations that happily accept our students onsite for mentoring and training. Placements at these sites are for educational and skill building opportunities, and could potentially lead to a job.

Our current local partnerships include:

  • Sutter
  • Kaiser
  • St. Joseph
  • Santa Rosa Community Health Centers
  • Many other smaller provider offices through out Sonoma County

Students may not choose which site they are placed in, but may request a site and/or specific department by letting the MA Coordinator know.

Students attend externship in the Summer semester, for a total of 240 hours. The externship is taken after all of the other MA classes are completed. The SRJC MA instructor is not onsite with the student, but will be checking in periodically throughout the externship.

OUTROTATIONS

Students *may* be assigned to attend various clinical outrotations during the externship. This means that students will not be at their normal externship site, but will be "outrotated" go a different clinical site for a day or two.

These sites may include, but are not limited to, EKG, Diagnostic Imaging, Urgent Care, Lab, etc. This experience is designed to expose the student to more aspects of health care that they otherwise would not have had a chance to be a part of at their assigned clinical home site.
